With so much podcasting attention spent on talk format casts ... this one is truly refreshing. What a unique concept. The latest show plays an original song like The Korgis - "Everybody's Gotta Learn Sometime" and follows with covers by obscure and noted artists like The Erasures and Beck. If hearing Europop and Beck wasn't enough Coverville's PJ (podjockey), Brian, rolls out an old Kink's song, "Waterloo Sunset." As if I haven't gushed enough, this show ends with a cover of this song by none other then Def Leppard.

What has Coverville done for this listener ... well I am pulling out all my old Kink's stuff. With a minor resurgance of popularity thanks to the HP Photo Ads, The Kinks get another nod from me ... seems they never have gotten their due. Thanks, Coverville (http://www.coverville.com).

In short, add this one to your podware .. I promise you won't regret it.

Hud: I couldn't agree more. The second I heard Coverville it was like a breath of fresh air. I have been listening to so many podcasts that are all talk, it was nice to enjoy someone who focused on the music in such a cool way.

Yay Coverville. When he played Beck's version of "Everybody's Gotta Learn Sometime" I immediately remembered hearing it during the film Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind and thinking I had to find out who it was by... and then I forgot. Now I've got it. What a song. Thanks. You made my day. Keep up the great work.
Cameron.

I've listened to a lot of podcast, especially from the music catagories and I have to say that Brian's podcasts are hands down the best. Great music, good balance of talk, and most importantly a real love of music. You can't fake loving music as much as Brian does. From his knowedge of bands to the outrageous amount of time that must go into each podcast he really is the bar by which all other podcasts are measured.

You guys are all awesome. I can't thank you enough for the support and fantastic comments. I hope to continue bringing you the show for as long as there are covers to play.

Many, many thanks,
Brian

Not only that, but Brian shows you can play by the rules and still have a killer show without breaking the bank. RIAA-safe, ASCAP approved. Mom would be proud!

ASCAP takes care of the writers and composers. But what about the labels? Isn't that another fee? Especially where current artists like Beck are concerned.

I know little about this, but it sure does cast a shade of gray throughout the internet and with podcasting in particular.

It sure does, RadioNo. I've got a topic i the forum that disccuses this very issue. I invite you to come, read and contribute! (I don't have the exact URL handy, but it's entitled "Getting Legal With Your Music-Based Podcasts", and can be found in the "Making Podcasts" section.)
