A lot of podcasters are grumbling about bandwidth, and as with normal evolution...people are answering.

Hopefully this will be the first of many dedicated to Podcasting:
www.libsyn.org offers podcast hosting plans.
We provide a home for you to store your media, and a simple but powerful interface that syndicates your podcast to a limitless audience.
We don't want you to be penalized if your show gets popular. That is why we do not charge for bandwidth usage, or for hosting a static amount of web storage. Instead, our price model is based on how much space you need a month. At the end of every month, your Podcasts are archived for as long as you are a LibSyn customer, and your hosting space is refreshed.

I think the bandwidth issue will soon be somewhat mitigated by developers incorporating bittorrent into the podcast clients. Folks with even small broadband pipes will be able to host to a large audience. Once that next generation of podcast clients arrives, I think it will allow even more folks to get into podcasting and the content and number of listeners is going to explode!

from Adam Curry's blog:

"Check it out, the Daily Source Code is now being tested as a bittorrent. Soon to be implemented right in my Podcast feed so your iPodder will be able to download it from the torrent file saving loads of bandwidth. Boooinnngg!"

draft spec for bittorrent enclosures in RSS:

It's really cool that there are already dedicated podcasting hosting providers! A good sign of things to come...

To begin I'd like to know what a good download number is? And I'm not talking about DSC levels. I know my podcast is no where near that.

My site allows 40gigs a month of BW. This past month I barely made it by with something like 39.58. That's why all my shows are moving to a 64 bit rate. The days of 128 are gone. This should free up alot of bandwidth. Am I too assume I am on the very low and small side of the podcast universe??
