Received an email today from Ian Gillespie today from Igg Software (www.iggsoftware.com/playpod) announcing the new release of his rss aggregator for the Macintosh platform. From Ian:
IGG Software is committed to developing powerful, yet easy to use personal and business applications. Since its inception, IGG Software's products have been recognized in MacWorld, by Apple, in MacUser and many other prominent Macintosh publications. IGG Software, LLC was started by Dr. Ian Gillespie in 2002 to develop enterprise strength applications for everyday Mac users.

One feature to note that is unique to this software >> it looks as if it has a built in mp3 player of some sort maybe to preview the audio tracks. Not sure really, I dont have a Mac. If you are a Mac user and try this software, please leave us a review.

I think it is great that IGG is willing to put it out there for everyone to try. Since this is a version .1 software, it is unfair to review it..but here are a few thoughts.

playPod has a unique way of listing the files within a show's rss feed and provides show information and the option of downloading or listening to any file within the feed.

playPod automatically downloads the files from a feed into iTunes, but lacks the ability to download a file to a defined playlist like iPodderX. With a large music library, locating the latest playPod downloaded feed with the iTunes search function is one more step not needed.

In short, IGG has a great start on their aggregator. And who can't rave about the playPod developers that hard coded ... Podcast Alley ... into their Help menu. Nice touch. :D

I'm gonna have to go to a Mac users house to check that out...would be nice to podcastalley.com getting built into some software for podcasting.

Having said that, I may be interested in entertaining the idea of creating an OPML of the podcasts listed on my directory for inclusion in a podcast aggreagtor. Is there any interest in this?
