The 6.5 Questions
1. How long have you been podcasting?
Since June of 2005
2. How many shows have you done?
With Mevio/Podshow Network 196
3. How has your quality/performance changed since your first show?
If you listen to some of my earlier shows you can tell that I did not have the best of equipment including a very cheap Radio Shack microphone and mixing board. I also had a very slow delivery with no reflection in my voice what so ever. But thankfully after listening to others, practicing, putting out lots of shows and sinking some cash in a Heil PR40 microphone, new board, compressor, Intel Mac and much more I think I now have a pretty good sound.
4. What podcasts do you listen to and which are your favorites?
I listen to AMPed New Music Weekly, Bob Edward's Weekend, Ed's Mixed Bag, Maccast, No Agenda, The Rock and Roll Geek Show, School of Podcasting, Democracy Now, Adam Carolla and Mothpod.
My favorites are Macccast and Adam Carolla.
5. Tell us about your show and who should be listening to it?
Any one sixteen and over that loves music and learning about the entertainment business will enjoy MR. Mevio Radio has evolved over the years. It started out as Podshow Radio and featured one artist per show. Most of the bands that I featured were Indie artists off the Podsafe Music Network. From time to time I still devote a entire show to one artist but for the most part the show consists of playing at least six bands on each show while mixing in industry news which covers radio, podcasting, concerts, Indie and mainstream bands and anything else I fill will keep you entertained. From time to time I do interviews from some of the biggest names in classic and current bands.
6. What is your background (especially if relevant to your podcast)?
I have been involved in music for over 30 years. I started out playing the drums at age 12 and have been playing in bands ever since. I now play in the band 'Doc Weasel'. We were fortunate to be picked among hundreds of other bands to play the gate before all Tampa Bay Buccaneer home games. I knew I wanted to be involved in radio at a early age after watching the on air talent at KLIF in Dallas Texas . But it was after meeting the legendary Ron Chapman of KVIL radio that I really knew that promoting bands was something I really wanted to do. My first DJ gig was for the American evangelist Garner Ted Armstrong. It was for a teen party and I new I was in trouble when I was told to pack up after playing 'Only The Good Die Young' by Billy Joel. I got involved in podcasting after listening to Madge Weinstein's 'Yeast Radio' and Adam Curry's 'Daily Source Code'. At the time there was only a handful of music podcasts. I started Podshow Radio, which evolved in to Mevio Radio to give indie as well as classic rock bands an outlet to get their music heard and before I knew it I was interviewing artists such as Bernard Purdie, Chris Juergensen, Davy Knowles, Don LaFontaine, Kevin Dubrow, Michael Sweet, Rick Nielsen and others.
6.5 Is there anything else your listeners should know about you, your show, etc?
I know there are hundreds of different music podcasts out there, some real good and some real bad, but I think that if listeners give Mevio Radio a try they will discover that it is one of the best music shows out there.
