The 6.5 Questions
1. How long have you been podcasting?
Since November 2005. Technically in 2004 I had "audio on the internet."
2. How many shows have you done?
If we are just talking the Musicians Cooler I'm at episode 164. If we count all 7 of my podcasts its over 500 episodes.
3. How has your quality/performance changed since your first show?
I have listeners helping me with content, my shows are shorter now (use to be an hour for the Musicians Cooler, now its about 20-40 minutes.
4. What podcasts do you listen to and which are your favorites?
Marcus Couch and The Scene Zine (www.thescenezine.com) always gets me going, I love Digital Flotsam, The Bitterest Pill, The Project Studio Nework, Music Business Radio, Daily Source Code, I have a ton of subscriptions and currently have 74 shows listed as "not listened to" in my itunes. Thank God For time shifting.
5. Tell us about your show and who should be listening to it?
The Musicians Cooler is a show by Musicians for Musicians or anyone in the Music Business. It's where musicians come to trade advice about the music business, running a band, getting more fans, more music sales, etc. We also have segments called "Tales from the road," where musicians talk about those lovely times on stage where everything goes wrong. About once a month we will have a speical "Three Link Thursday" episode which features tools, websites, and resources for the listeners. We typically end the show featuring a song from our guests.
6. What is your background (especially if relevant to your podcast)?
I've been a performing musician since I was 15, and I've always been involved with marketing, customer service, etc in my day jobs (which transfers nicely as ways to build a fan base in the music world).
6.5 Is there anything else your listeners should know about you, your show, etc?
Before it was a podcast, the Musicians Cooler was a newsletter with over 1200 readers.
It comes out weekly (typically on Monday). We've had some great guests from independent musicians to Carmine Appice (Rod Stewart, Ozzy), Rudy Sarzo (Quiet Riot and Whitesnake) , Joe Lynn Turner (Rainbow, Deep Purple). If you're involved with the music business, please stop by and listen to an episode or two and then tell a friend.
