The 6.5 Questions
1. How long have you been podcasting?
We aired our first show in August of 2005.
2. How many shows have you done?
We have produced 18 fun filled episodes with a number of new episodes recorded and waiting to be aired.
3. How has your quality/performance changed since your first show?
You mean that first show we now cringe at? Our show is done on site, at the winery, and therefore controlling our surroundings can be quite tricky. We continually working out the quality issues, but we feel that each show has improved over the previous one. We have a great sound engineer, Tom Krymkowski, who has provided us with guidance and helped improve our quality immensely.
4. What podcasts do you listen to and which are your favorites?
LORI - The daily source code is a favorite, daily listen. We listen to other wine casts such as The Cellar Rat. We also listen to Accident Hash, Say Yum! and many other shows - the list is too long to include. JOE - I agree, there is such a huge list, I don't even listen to radio anymore! Daily Source Code, Ancestor, Accident Hash, Come Fly With Me, Eric Rice, Think Future... the list just goes on!
5. Tell us about your show and who should be listening to it?
Our show is brought to listeners from a novice wine tasting point of view. Anyone interested in finding and learning about great, unusual wineries or wines should be listening to our show. We visit each winery, taste their wines and record everything on-site. In this respect, we are sort of a virtual travel guide as we document the features of each winery (Are they close? Do they have picnic facilities? Are they kid friendly? etc) The first appellation we are exploring, the Santa Cruz Mountains, is right in our backyard and not very well known. Most people think of Napa when they think of California wines. There are SO many more appellations in California that people should be aware of and visit, and some, much closer than you think!
6. What is your background (especially if relevant to your podcast)?
We like wine and have been drinking it for years!
Joe spent 6 years in the Navy, and another six years working as an Engineer in business Development and Process Improvement.
Lori has a business background and has worked at technology companies including Apple, eBay and a start-up.
6.5 Is there anything else your listeners should know about you, your show, etc?
We love to hear feedback and would like suggestions on just about any topic. If you have a favorite winery that you would like us to visit, send us an email at [email protected] We'll check it out!
