The 6.5 Questions
1. How long have you been podcasting?
I recorded my first show (Reality Bitchslap Radio) on December 21, 2004. Accident Hash first hit the net on January 10, 2005. So I guess I'm one of those 2nd generation podcasters I've heard referred to from time to time.
2. How many shows have you done?
62 Accident Hash's as of the writing of this.
3. How has your quality/performance changed since your first show?
I've grown more comfortable with my voice and my style and that is more important then the equipment. I got to the point where I bought a condenser mic and a mixer which sounds much better then my USB microphone I was using in the beginning. I've also changed from recording in Audacity to using CastBlaster which had a lot to do with my change in style. Going from editing to "live" recording is quite a shift.
4. What podcasts do you listen to and which are your favorites?
I constantly listen to new podcasts and it depends on my mood. For comedy I love Bob & AJ, The Bitterest Pill and Mondays. I of course listen to the staples that everyone should listen to like Evil Genius Chronicles, Podcast411, Media Artist Secrets, Podcast Brothers and The Daily Source Code. I'm officially addicted to EarthCore at the moment and am eagerly awaiting Scott's next book Ancestor. Finally, I of course listen to other music shows such as Bandtrax, Getting a Leg Up, ExtraSuperActionShow and Coverville as well. I know I'm forgetting a ton of them. Oh, I have to listen to Violet Blue whenever she puts out a new podcast which isn't nearly often enough. How can you not love her voice?
5. Tell us about your show and who should be listening to it?
I play a huge mix of podsafe music. I tend to lean more towards alternative rock or acoustic type of tunes, but I'll play pretty much anything. I've gotten a ton of feedback on my all women and chilled shows so I'm going to be doing a bunch more of those in addition to more interviews and live recordings of shows. If you like great music and a laid back host then I guess your the type of listener I want. *grin*
6. What is your background (especially if relevant to your podcast)?
I've done theater my whole life and eventually evolved that into filmmaking for the past 10 years with my production company Random Foo Pictures (www.randomfoo.com). I have a degree in Computer Information Systems and am currently the Digital Marketing Manager at Babson College. Does any of this have to do with Podcasting? Not really, but I was a DJ in college so I guess that helps a little bit.
6.5 Is there anything else your listeners should know about you, your show, etc?
I'm the manager of the Podsafe Music Network which I encourage everyone to check out if they are looking for quality music for their podcast. What else? I'm a father of two great kids. I spend as much time as possible in the outdoors. I love to cook, take photos and have recently taken up painting.
