The 6.5 Questions
|
1. How long have you been podcasting?
I started Podcasting in March.
2. How many shows have you done?
EarthCore is the first and only podcast that I have done. I've recorded 17 episodes so far, and have 4 more to go to complete the novel.
3. How has your quality/performance changed since your first show?
I started recording at work, so the quality was very high. My company SNP Communications (www.snpnet.com) does broadcast-style internal communications for Fortune 500 companies, so we have a nice recording studio. The first few chapters I had no idea what I was doing, so it was a challenge. I now record at home on GarageBand. The quality has dropped a little, but I feel it's still pretty good and I've only got a couple of complaints out of the 7,500 listeners.
4. What podcasts do you listen to and which are your favorites?
My favorite show is Michael and Evo's Dragon Page, which is a sci-fi/fantasy podcast talking about books, movies and games. Like everyone else I love Dawn & Drew. I listen to the other podcast novels, The Pocket & The Pendant by Mark Jeffery, Moravi by Tee Morris and Tom Corven by Paul Story -- all of these books are available at www.podiobooks.com. I also listen to Just Julie and Mr. X, The Martini Shot, In the Media, Austincast, Daily Source Code, Grape Radio and more.
5. Tell us about your show and who should be listening to it?
EarthCore is a podcast-only novel, which means it's a serialized work of fiction delivered in one 45-minute episode per week. The novel is suspense with a bit of sci-fi thrown in. If you like the TV shows "24," "Lost" or "Battlestar Galactica," you'll love Earthcore. EarthCore was due out in May of 2002 from TimeWarner, so this is a professionally edited novel from a major publishing house. It's a high-quality piece of work.
6. What is your background (especially if relevant to your podcast)?
I've been writing "seriously" for seven years. I've been playing with fiction as far back as I can remember, and spent three years as a newspaper writer. For the past ten years, I've been doing small business marketing.
6.5 Is there anything else your listeners should know about you, your show, etc?
This book is not G-Rated, and it isn't for pansies. There's a bit of bad language, and a LOT of violence.
