The 6.5 Questions
1. How long have you been podcasting?
We actually did four shows before deciding we had one good enough to put online. We were lucky enough to have Ben from pupuplatters.com design our web site for free. Doing the "radio show"--almost four months, actually podcasting--two point five.
2. How many shows have you done?
Just finished #11, its the Dark Show.
3. How has your quality/performance changed since your first show?
Ever since I made Jeanette get naked for the show, it's been way better. Just kidding. The flow of the show and our interaction has improved as we've gotten more comfortable in front of the mics. In the beginning stages, we mostly talked about stupid junk that happened during the week and current events or news stories. As the show has progressed, we've gotten more creative: recording songs for funny bits, remote interviews, and gag commercials. The show is still in its
infancy of course, so who knows what's to come. Podcasters take note: taking the mic out into the public (especially with alcohol involved) is one of those thrills in life you have to experience to appreciate.
4. What podcasts do you listen to and which are your favorites?
Dawn and Drew, Yeast Radio, and Podcast411 are the staples. We also have our personal favorites. I'm getting more and more addicted to all kinds of new ones. For the record, we hadn't heard of Dawn and Drew before starting our show.
5. Tell us about your show and who should be listening to it?
We're big Howard Stern fans. HUGE Howard Stern fans, so there should be some overlap with his audience. But anyone whose sense of humor allows them to appreciate the inherent hilarity of a fart-sound can enjoy PK and J. We don't have much respect for authority, so maybe people with a taste for irreverence. People with less than an 8th grade education might have trouble with us...who knows?
6. What is your background (especially if relevant to your podcast)?
Jeanette is from El Salvador originally, and Paul is a white guy. I think we might be the first interracial couple podcast. We're waiting for that to be a new category on Podcast Alley. Paul's professional background is in audio engineering and multimedia which helps for obvious reasons.
6.5 Is there anything else your listeners should know about you, your
We're going to keep doing it, because it's fun. If they're angry, drunk or otherwise intoxicated, they should call our Brown Phone at 206-339-PKNJ.
