The 6.5 Questions
|
1. How long have you been podcasting?
Our first podcast was put out on the web site Jan 18th, 2005
2. How many shows have you done?
We have completed and posted 11 shows, we have several more completed and set to air. Our goal is to post 1-2 shows per week.
3. How has your quality/performance changed since your first show?
On a personal level we have each gotten more comfortable, the nervousness of the first few shows is gone. We have also taken the feedback from our listeners and tried to incorporate that into the show. We found that most of our listeners enjoy wine but are not real wine "geeks" so we are careful about certain advanced wine terms trying to describing anything in detail whenever possible. We don't want to sound like wine snobs and scare off people.
Part of the learning curve was also the issue of having 3 host and usually a guest - there is a certain dynamic of working together and we are now really starting to gel as a broadcast team.
4. What podcast do you listen to and which are your favorites?
I listen to most of the shows on your top 10 but my favorites are: Reel Reviews, Daily Source Code, & Coverville.
5. Tell us about your show and who should be listening to it?
Our shows consist of the three hosts sharing their opinions and experiences with the audience. Show topics includes issues such as the enjoyment of wine, wine news and industry trends. The hallmark of the shows are guest interviews with winemaker, vineyard owners, wine retail / wholesale leaders, restaurateurs and sommeliers. The scope of the show will be international so expect to hear many guests from around the world.
6. What is your background (especially if relevant to your podcast)?
Myself and Jay Selman own a small business together (unrelated to wine), we met Leigh Older via a business group called YEO. We all share a passion for wine that has developed over many years and the show allows us to share that passion with all the listeners. We get to meet a lot of people in the industry we have only read about and have a great time doing it (We drink wine during all the shows).
6.5 Is there anything else your listeners should know about you, your show, etc?
Wine is a lot of fun and can add an additional dimension to meals that many people currently don't enjoy. Our goal is to expose more people to wine and make it easier to make sense of all the choices out in the marketplace. Additionally a lot of our success can be attributed to the involvement of Michael Geoghegan (Reel Reviews) as an executive producer and guide to the podcasting world.
