The 6.5 Questions
1. How long have you been podcasting?
First podcast came out January 1, 2005. Two months.
2. How many shows have you done?
Six shows so far (Seventh is in the works, to be completed by Feb 26).
3. How has your quality/performance changed since your first show?
Quality has improved immensely, adding background music (Spartan Fight Song and sports music) and sound effects... and, most of all, improving the broadcast with editing.
4. What podcasts do you listen to and which are your favorites?
Favorite podcasts are the Ken and Squip Show, East Detroit Radio, Craftbrewing Radio, Sportspod, The Adventures of Dr. Floyd, and Tracks Up the Tree.
5. Tell us about your show and who should be listening to it?
The Enlightened Spartan is the first, and only, podcast which features a college football program, with an in-depth look at the Michigan State Spartans. Time permitting, the ES takes a look at other events which affect gridiron Saturdays along the Red Cedar River, including Spartan tailgating, NCAA football. We also have a quick wrap up of other Spartan sports. Comments are completely opinionated by the Spartan Super Fan, the ES.
6. What is your background (especially if relevant to your podcast)?
The ES has a Masters in Sports Administration from Central Michigan University, but my bachelors is from Michigan State University (1990). Worked for six years in intercollegate athletics as a Grad Assistant, Sports Information Director and Assistant Athletic Director at the Division 1-A, 2, and 3 levels (Central Michigan, West Coast Conference, Michigan Tech, Olivet College). Public address announcer for Chippewa baseball from 1996-1998. Created first cybercast of WCC basketball tournament in March 1999. Radio play by play for MTU football and basketball in 1999. Radio color commentary for Olivet Football in 2000.
6.5 Is there anything else your listeners should know about you, your show, etc?
If the Spartans win, we'll praize 'em. If they lose, we'll haze 'em. The ES is not on the sidelines, nor the press box -- but in the upper deck, like the rest of the bleeding green Spartan fans. We tell it like it is, from the standpoint of a SPARTAN FAN. Oh, and we rip the Michigan Wolverines on a constant basis -- each and every podcast guarantees an attack on scUM Athletics... GO STATE!
